Adele's New Story
Production Coordinator Works to Keep Voice Alive for You

I am the Production Co-ordinator of Mother Warriors Voice. I have been with Welfare Warriors for over 15 years. I began in 1990. We had no computers or office then. I started out typing articles from moms on a word processing typewriter in Pat Gowens’ home. Then I found out I could get a year’s subscription free if my stories were printed.

My first story was actually some of my poetry. Then I sent in a few stories about the Goddess from a book I was writing. I wrote some Christmas articles. And I submitted some articles about my garden, and how you can actually eat plants many people consider weeds. Some of my articles were reprinted in other papers.

My most heartrending article was about how CPS took two of my three children for my crime of “potential child neglect.” No, I never neglected my children, or had any intention of doing so. CPS just thought I might neglect them. And that was excuse enough to snatch them.

I kept the Voice coming to my home for many years for free by writing all those stories. What I mainly do now is compile stories for the regular columns like Did You Know, Mother’s News, Victories, Youth News, Gay News, Health, Disability News and sometimes War News and Corporate Crap.

Mother Warriors Voice does a publication exchange with alternative, labor and women’s newspapers and magazines from around the world. My job is to go through all those publications and find articles I think might interest our readers. If there are pictures included, I scan them. I try to make sure that the articles and pictures feature people of various ages, races, sizes and sexual orientation.

I have seen many Warriors come and go through the years. Some of the children who were in grade school when I started now have children of their own. Sadly, there are several fallen warriors since I started: Jacquie, Shirley, Colleen, Cathy, Belinda, Colleen, Theresa and Faye. But at 64, I am still going strong. Mother Warriors Voice was not around in the “bad old days” when I was on welfare. I want to make sure it is still around for you.
