Creative Parenting Costs Less

Smart, healthy, happy children- start with play

Imagination—empty box becomes a space ship. A blanket becomes the stage for a tea party

Creativity—plastic, pots and pans, or rubber bands stretched over a cardboard box becomes a band

Exploration—backyard is a hidden forest to investigate. Use the treasures you find for an art project

Determination— build a tower or a whole world with blocks or a tent with sheets

Education—plant a flower, blow a bubble, pour water into different size cups

Action—dance, jump in puddles, ride a bike, take a walk, experiment with bouncing balls

Explanation—read a story, talk about the weather, and discuss the day’s events

Relaxation — take a break from chores and activities to draw read, talk and sing

Sociability— play pretend with a friend, use dolls or stuffed animals to make a family, become your child’s best friend

 

Ten Super  Toys

 

Empty Cardboard Box—big enough to get inside; With lids are great.

Blankets—Playpeek-a-boo, picnics, tents

Blocks—from milk cartons, foam, wood.

Water—Help wash the dishes, practi. When child throws something off high chair, time for a ball.

Music—Dance with the baby, twist with the toddler, prance with the pre-schooler

Music-making Toys—Beans in a container, tambourines, triangles

Junk—recycle, remove sharp or small pieces. Let kids fill and dump, tape and paste.

Natural Materials—stones, leaaves, plants.
